The Universal Protection Relay Test Equipment is designed as a multi-purpose platform for testing different generations and types of electrical protection devices.
It combines flexible AC/DC current and voltage generation, precise phase-angle control, frequency adjustment, harmonic simulation, binary I/O and advanced software testing functions.
A universal test set is particularly valuable for utilities and commissioning contractors that need to work with different relay models and protection schemes.
Protection Relay Testing
Measurement
Advanced Testing
One tester for multiple relay types
Reduces the need to purchase different dedicated instruments.
Portable field operation
Suitable for commissioning and maintenance work.
Flexible output
Multiple current/voltage channels support complex protection simulations.
Software automation
Reduces repetitive manual testing.
Future-oriented
Advanced models can support IEC 61850 digital protection testing.
Can one relay test set test all types of protection relays?
Not literally every relay or every communication protocol. The actual capability depends on output channels, power, software modules and communication interfaces. A universal tester should therefore be selected according to the customer's protection applications.
How many phases do I need?
Three-phase systems are suitable for many conventional protection tests. Six-phase systems provide greater flexibility for differential, busbar and complex numerical protection tests.
Do I need IEC 61850?
If the customer operates digital or smart substations using IEC 61850-based IEDs, IEC 61850 capabilities can be important. For conventional secondary injection testing, they may not be necessary.
