Urban underground power networks are often complex, with densely distributed cable chambers and multiple cables installed within the same manhole. When a cable fault occurs, identifying the faulty cable and locating the exact fault point through manual inspection can be highly time-consuming and may increase the risk of incorrect operation and wider power outages.
Recently, Sansion Power's senior engineers traveled to the customer's site to provide professional cable fault location and identification services.
The cable under test was more than 2 kilometers long, with over ten cable chambers distributed along the route. As the work involved confined-space operations, safety was the first priority. Before entering each cable chamber, the team used a toxic gas detector to check the underground environment and confirmed that the conditions were safe before proceeding.
Instead of relying on large-scale manual inspection, the project adopted a coordinated workflow based on Sansion Power's independently developed testing equipment:
Through the coordinated testing process, the Sansion Power engineering team successfully completed:
The confirmed locations were marked on site with paint, providing reliable reference information for the customer's subsequent cable repair and maintenance work.
The customer and Sansion Power first established cooperation in 2017 and have since developed a long-term partnership, with more than 30 sets of various testing equipment purchased over the years.
During this service visit, Sansion Power also provided hands-on training for the customer's newly appointed maintenance personnel, helping them understand the key operating procedures and improve their ability to use the testing equipment independently.
The standardized testing process and reliable field results received positive feedback from the customer.
At Sansion Power, we believe that high-voltage testing equipment is only part of the solution. Practical field experience and technical support are equally important.
From cable fault location and underground cable identification to high-voltage testing and on-site technical services, Sansion Power provides integrated solutions to help power utilities, cable companies and electrical contractors address challenging field conditions efficiently.
